I think i got bit...

I think i got bit by either the spring-cleaning-bug or a remedial-marthastewart-bug... or i've been watching too much of the home & garden channel. Whatever the reason i've been busy with plans to make my house look better.
I started in the family room. I have gotten tired of the disaster i see whenever i watch tv so i decided to start there.
Before
So an order to target.com + 4 hours of building cabinets (and 2 band aids...i'll admit i stabbed myself a couple of times with the screwdriver- those things are sharp!) And a lot of organizing and throwing stuff away and this is what i got...
After
(Geez... just how many times did the kids touch the tv?!?) Note to self: wash tv.

- - - The next project: Refinish an old coffee table i found in the warehouse - - -

While helping (mostly just watching the boys do the heavy lifting) clean out the warehouse i found this coffee table. I thought the design on the drawer was cool so i decided to try and fix it up.
Before
After a trip to Lowe's (those people rock! they totally told me how to tile from start to finish, and showed me exactly what i needed to buy!) and a 30 minute negotiation with the kids about which tiles we wanted we came home with a plan on how to refinish the table. I got to work (with Beth offering lots of emotional support) and i Tiled A Table!!!! i rock!

After

It was so easy! it was 85 percent worry and 15 percent work. The tile looks really cool and all that is left to do is place another coat of sealant to the wood. (plus, i learned how to do it better the next time)

2 projects down and like 50 to go! woo hoo! we already have the garden prepping for this years fruits and veggies (we purchased an apple tree that has 4 different kinds of apples grafted on it, a pear tree with 4 types of pears, and a blood orange tree), and seeds starting to sprout in the greenhouse on the front porch. Exciting! we will be refinishing the kitchen table, painting the cupboards, painting the bathrooms, and installing an awesome vinyl sign that says "Tunquist Family" (thanks to Walapaloo.com! -my sister Angel's vinyl cutting business). I am so excited.

My bathtime buddy

The kids were all ready for bed and watching a show before bed so i decided to take a bath. I usually pull the doggie bed into the bathroom so that chu-wee can sit on something soft instead of the hard ground while he "protects" me from... the bubbles. CJ decided that he didn't want to watch the show that Ashley chose and so he grabbed his DS and kicked Chu-wee outta his bed and decided to keep me company instead. (luckily i have a curtain that i can close so that only my head shows). CJ played his game and described -in detail- the game he was playing. (I now know WAY more about the Indiana Jones Lego game than i ever thought i would!) CJ is a sweetheart and i love hanging out with him.

YMCA Indoor Soccer

Soccer season is over and the kids did fantastic! Ashley is a natural soccer player and does great as a goalie. She is not scared to get right in with all those kicking feet to go and steal the ball.
CJ has made such an improvement over the soccer season. He went from telling us "It doesn't matter if i kick the ball because someone else on my team will" to making two "almost" goals in one game! He is not very competitive and he enjoys running up and down the field until its his turn to be goalie and then he is all business. He gets so excited that he does a little hopping dance while he waits for the ball to get close. Its freakin adorable!

My Soccer Kiddos

I'm a Rockstar!

Today Ashley put on her silver necklace and my sunglasses and told me she looks like a rockstar.

Stockton Thunder Rocks!

We went to go see the Stockton Thunder Hockey Team kick butt! The kids had a ton of fun. They thought that staying up late on a school night was great! They borrowed this fuzzy yellow hat from a cousin.

They are so silly!

CJ lost his first tooth! and then a second!

On Friday at 2:30p CJ lost (and swallowed) his first tooth eating a hot dog. The next day at 10a he lost his 2nd tooth! Not so much lost as mom saying "let me touch your other loose tooth" and gently pulling at the same time. In my defence... i noticed that it was only attached by the tiniest thread and i didn't want him to loose it during his soccer game and swallow this one too.

He was so funny during the game because he kept showing all the kids his new hole in his mouth and he kept sticking his tongue through the hole and smiling it at us- even when he was the goalie!

He is growing up so fast! I have been in denial about my baby growing up. He is 6 years old, in kindergarten, knows how to use a computer, and has now lost 2 teeth. He is definitely not a baby anymore. :-(

whats that smell?

We smelled a burning smell in the kitchen but couldn't find it for the life of us! We searched and searched and it seemed to be coming from everywhere and nowhere all at once. The next day there was melted ice cream all over the floor and the fridge had stopped being cold. Turns out that this tiny little piece that kept the fridge working had actually burnt and melted! The piece is actually an all white part. A new part and $250 dollars later... we have a working fridge! woo hoo!

Determined CJ

Poor CJ got sick and had to stay home from school, his dad and Liz had got him a balloon and he was determined to keep playing with it. When he took a nap he kept that balloon gripped in his hand the whole time!

Ashley won the District 9 level

We got to go to another award ceremony. Ashley won at the district 9 level. She has now been entered into the state level. We are so proud of her!
Gma Stone should definitely get part of the award since she was the one that gave Ash all of those great art lessons!
Ash was so excited because she got a metal along with her award certificate.

Ash's teacher asked her to bring in her metal and certificate so she could show it to her class.
